Preamble

The Electoral Literacy Club, conceived on January 25, 2018, is a platform to engage college students through interesting activities and hands-on experience to sensitize them about their electoral rights and familiarize them with the complete electoral process in our country. The ELC is responsible for the smooth functioning of the activities that may empower the democracy with the well aware forth coming citizens of the country.

Teachers and students from various departments have been included to give this body truly a representative character. With the goal to build a participative democracy in India, the club encourages the students to vote, spread awareness and promote voter literacy among all.

To develop responsible citizens, the club deems it quintessential to sensitize students about the importance of participating in the electoral process. They are made aware about the political parties, their manifestos, backgrounds of the contesting candidates such that they can cast an ‘enlightened’ vote at the time of elections.

To give every student a platform where they can enhance their Skills by active participation and develop an attitude of teamwork

Mission

To provide education about registration and legal electoral process.
To familiarize the targeted populations about machine voting like EVM (Electronic Voting Machine) and VVPAT (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail).
To help the targeted audience understand the value of their vote.
To ensure the citizens that they should exercise their adult suffrage right with confidence in an ethical manner.
To develop a sense among the citizens that ‘Every vote counts’ and ‘No Voter to be Left Behind’.

Club Objectives

To create awareness among the students regarding the importance of the electoral system of the country- union, state and local level.
To enhance their participation in the voting system.
To create awareness to select effective people centric leaders and cast a valid vote.
To ensure smooth implementation/execution of our planned activities.
